BAIRD, BILL: Born in Forth, started speedway at Glasgow in 1946 and also rode at Johnnie Hoskins' other track at Bradford. Joined Edinburgh in 1948 and was ever present that season. Scored Monarchs' first ever point at Bristol, albeit in a 1-5. Rarely hit the heights in his two seasons but was always popular. Moved to Ashfield in 1950.
