PHOTOGRAPHY AT EDINBURGH SPEEDWAY
Few tracks have been as well served by their phtographers as Edinburgh. At present we don't have much data on the 50's photographers, but the following have contributed in a big way to our photographic record over the years:
DREW McLAREN
Professional photographer in the city who was official Monarchs' photographer from 1961-1968. When he passed away in the late eighties he donated his priceless store of negatives to Edinburgh Speedway.
RON KING
Supporter from Dalkeith who worked in a photographic business and took on the Monarchs' job from 1978-1982 and maintained a very high standard. We have copies of most of Ron's shots.
BILL MOODIE
Employee of DC Thomson who took photos for fun. Very imaginative photographer in the early eighties. Donated many photos to Edinburgh Speedway.
JACK CUPIDO
Edinburgh's longest serving photographer, having started in 1982 making 20 years so far! Current official track photographer, works very hard and ensures shots of the previous week's meeting in every match programme.
JIMMY GRANT
Currently described as 'official archivist', has actually photographed over a longer period than Jack Cupido, having taken shots in 1981. Superb quality of action shots.
ALEX McINTOSH
Speedway Star photographer for Edinburgh. Previously performed the role for Glasgow. Excellent shots including occasional action sequences. However we are not in possession of many of Alex's photos.
